SALARY: R138 486 per annum
CENTRE: Otto du Plessis Hospital
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum requirement: Basic numeracy and literacy skills. Experience:
Appropriate experience in the field of cleaning services and infection control
within a health facility. Inherent requirements of the job: Physically able to be
on one’s feet for long hours and lift and move heavy objects and supplies. Ability to
operate industrial machinery and equipment used in hospital cleaning services.
Willingness to work shifts, including night duty, weekends, public holidays and
perform overtime when required. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Good
interpersonal skills. Ability to accept accountability and responsibility and to
work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of the correct methods
of handling and disposal of domestic refuse and medical waste products.
Knowledge of cleaning principles and infection prevention and control.
DUTIES: Deliver a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the hospital to
prevent the spread of infection by adhering to infection prevention and control
policies. Managing resources efficiently through the correct usage, ordering
and safekeeping of equipment, materials and cleaning solutions. Render
effective and efficient linen management and food services support functions.
Render an effective and efficient waste management service to ensure the
correct and safe handling of all types of waste, including domestic, medical and
anatomical. Provide optimal support to the supervisor and colleagues, and
adhere to policies and procedures.
